91 sas popping sound?

So the other day i had to stop reallllyyy fast and somthing popped from the front drivers side. got home tore into it and found there was only 2 bolts holding my rotor on and they both sheared off. so i easy out'ed them and put six new bolts in, BUT the hole size in the rotor was bigger than the bolt.. im thinking the sound im hearing is the rotor shifting that little bit inside the hole. I havent torn into it again yet just trying to get some one elses 2cents on it. the only time it pops is when i back up hit the brakes pop, and than pull foward and hit the brakes it pops again than it stops.... HELP

You got the wrong size rotor or the wrong bolts. The rotor bolt holes shouldn't have that kind of slop in them.

ok im not sure what rotor exactly it is but its off a older cruiser, and i have the v6 ifs calipers. my axle is 83. the bolts that hold the rotor on are smaller than the holes in the rotor. the holes in a ifs rotor r the right diam. but it spaces it to far. (i would have to do a ifs widening kit) are the hubs different in a 84 and 85 axle to where they went to a bigger bolt and because mine is a 83 its got a smaller bolt? im really confused on this and need to figure it out asap. wab is there any way i can talk to you on the phone to explain it better (like today)???

You don't have the correct rotors.

The wheel studs should press fit into the rotors through the wheel hub and they should also bolt onto the rotor.

i have the same rotors you sell. they r fj60s or what ever. so the wheel lug nut studs should not be "pressed" into the hub they should go threw the rotor first?

from the back to front of the hub mine is set up like this, rotor, hub with the wheel studs coming out of the hub, is this wrong? im so confused and am getting very stressed out.

and if i pull the stud out and put it threw the rotor i dont have enough stud to bolt my tires on

www.ncttora.com/fsm has a diagram of how the front axle should go together, only difference if you have a vented rotor instead of the solid one.

that shows the rotor bolts to the hub with the 6 bolts the 2 other holes are to put a bolt in to remove your rotor if its stuck on. does not show the wheel studs go from the back of the rotor in. if i give you my cell number can you shoot me a call so i can try to explain it better?

Your rotor is attached to your wheel hub with 6 wheel studs and 2 bolts.

The wheel studs hammer/press in from the back side of the wheel hub through the rotor as you notice the knurled section is in the wheel hub, not the rotor itself.

You can hit me up on FB but I don't talk on the phone on the weekend.

My hub looks nothing like that at all. my hub has 12 holes 6 are filled by the wheel studs and the other are to hold the rotor on.

Something is definitely not right.

Did you build this axle yourself?

Is it a mini truck / 4Runner solid front axle?

You sure it is an 83?

You should have 6 wheel studs and 2 bolts. That's it.

Take some pictures. Load to Photobucket. copy the IMG code to here

No way to figure out what you got without seeing it.

My bet is that is NOT an 83 axle.

Look at the side of the axle tube on the driver's side on the bottom. Any factory truss?

I bet you got one of the weird 79-80 axles with the strange wheel hubs and that is why the rotors don't fit up right.

it has the axle trus on it. my only guess is it has 79 or 80 hubs for some odd reason.

Could it be a IfS hub?

79-80 have no lower truss.
81-83 half a truss
84-85 have full truss

Those are definitely 79-80 wheel hubs and that is your problem.

I'm trying to find a pictoral comparison, but that is what I'm thinking. Those are not the 81-85 wheel hubs but a 79-80 set for whatever reason.

Try the "Items Wanted" section here, junkyard, Craiglist.

I know FROR used to carry wheel hubs on their site but don't know now.
