Removing lock tumblers from tailgate window switch?

I want to remove the tumblers to just let my key turn the switch for my 4runner tailgate. The lock doesnt match any of the other locks and i would like to use the key function rather than have to go in the truck to use that switch. I have the lock out of the truck and on the bench and i can see the back does turn, but how do i get to pull the tumblers out? I tried to push the tumblers down throguh the top and pull, but it doesnt move.

If you have the lock out you might take it to a lock smith and get his opinion on getting it to work or having the tumbler re-keyed to your key. Other opiton would be to locate a complete lockset from a wreck 4runner and do a complete lock set switch out. Ignition is piece of cake, the tailgate and doors can be the real PITA. If you need help with the ignition removal I can tell you the easy donw and dirty on it. Good luck

Thanks, i have been debating on jsut bringing the lock and the key i want it to be keyed for to a locksmith. I have it out and just sitting so it wouldnt be hard. i was looking at the top and thinknig bout cutting out a groove to pull out the tumblers but then i have pretty much ruined it from ever being a "lock" again.
