Does anyone know what this is called. It needs replaced bad, but I don't know what it is called to be able to order the new parts.

It is on my son's 85 solid axle Toyota pickup. Driver's side.

That is the drag link, looks like an aftermarket dropped drag link instead of the straight stock part. Usually it just needs to be cleaned, greased and tightened up.

It also looks like the front axle is in need of a rebuild, by the looks of the oil leaking out around the felt seals.

 

What makes you say that it needs to be replaced?

 

You just need to rebuild it, inner seals are leaking. Good time to service your birfields and wheel bearings as well.
