2002 Nissan PathFinder SE and 4Runner SE

Hey guys,
I have been helping my cousin in choosing her SUV. This is the 2 models she's considering.
1) 2002 4Runner 4WD Sport Edition with all options
2) 2002 PathFinder 4WD SE.

The prices are about the same.

She loves the 4Runner but the color (Red). She likes the Pathfinder color.

Here are the 4Runner advantages:
Sunroof, trailer hitch receiver, rear window power down, nicer body.

Here are the Pathfinder advantages:
1) Auto. climate control, BOSE 6-disc changer, bigger engine.

What one is the best choice here, please help me to help her. we might take the car as soon as tomorrow.

Hmmmmmm, if she wants to wait a month, she can have a V8 with the '03 4Runner, and climate control, not to mention a JBL stereo system.

Personaly I think if she likes the '02 body style on the 4Runner, she can have her own custom stereo put in which will blow away any factory stereo, including the top of the lines ones from the factory.

Has she also looked at the Xterra's?
I'd take one of them over a Pathy any day.

Has she driven yours yet?

Yes, she loves my drive and she ask me to go look for one exactly like mine (color, options).

She looked at the Xterra but didn't like it. She's not an Off Roader, just 19 years of age, a college kid. 03 will be too much money for her, she gets this for free and her dad said the limit is under 30k. Why somebody is so lucky?

So, you will go for the 4Runner?

If she can get into an '02 4Runner, I'd take her out and look for some.
Be sure to insist on a killer deal though since the '03s will soon be out.

Dealers want to move the stock fast to make room for the new 4th gens.

Can her daddy be my daddy
Heck, I'm probably older than her daddy.

She is 19, I am 20! I will let her drive mine! LOL...anyways, I agree w/ Corey. If you want a good stereo, install one afterwards. Save the money and get a really good one! Also, I would think the 4Runner would be a better vehicle for her. It is bigger (cargo) and runs better. I personally would wait for the 2003. I think they are really cool. Goodluck. :fireman:

P.S. I can give her my phone #....lol...just messin'

Let's see what she'll get. I might go with her again today after work to work on it. I can't tell her all the good things about 4Runner because I own one.

Let's see how it turn out.

I'll ask her about the phone number hahahahahaha.

when I went out looking for the first car, there was no doubt in mind which SUV I was going to get, however I just didn't think i'd get the loan. In fact I don't even know how I talked my boyfriend into paying for half of the 4runner......I still have to pay for it for another .....3-4 years. I wish my dad bought me the damn thing, then I wouldn't have to worry about monthly payments. I didn't even have to take it on a test drive, even though i've never driven a 4runner before I bought one, I just wanted it i didn't care what it drove like, although i'm glad at the way it turned out, I love the way it drives.

Right now you can get an '02 SE if you go through carsdirect.com for $26K or better. They are legit and this is where I bought my '01 with a Sport Package for the same price of 26K ... and that's before trade in!

I will never buy another automobile with out checking their price first. It's free, so why not at least check if they can get a good price? No delaer in my area could even come within $2000 of carsdirect.com's price.

darn it, she decided to go with the Pathfinder SE just because the local dealer couldn't locate her a ThunderCloud 4Runner, they have 6 dealers but all they have is the RED with sport package.

Her dad paid about 28500 CASH for the 02 Pathy SE? I think there is 2000 bucks ripped off in there, I can't tell him not too because it ain't my money.

When I went to look foe my SUV, I tried that 02 Pathy already but I picked the 4Runner over it. What a waste?????????????ahahahahah

OMG, that's the saddest thing I have ever heard . She would have been able to get a brand new Runner w/o paying a dime, and she got a Pathy. I'm just going to stop now before I go to far in explaining all my emotions after hearing someone loose the chance of a lifetime(FREE '02 4Runner) Okay I'm gone now, time to cry my heart out for a few hours.

she doesn't know much about car / SUV and her dad didn't want to get involved in making decision, he doesn't want her to complain later about why's this and why's that.

Just because of the color (RED) and she didn't pick it. oh well, so sad to bad.......
