I just bought my 2000 4runner last week and I'm currently in the process of replacing some of the worn items on it. I went to a local parts shop and bought a new wiper for it (the one that was recommended in the parts store computer) but I'm finding that I can't get the old wiper off. It looks like my only options are to either replace the entire rear wiper arm or just replace the blade... I've never heard of a vehicle that wouldn't allow you to replace the wipers, are these two options really my only two options?

ya thats how i felt after i looked at it and already purchased my rear wiper. Wat i did and i saw someone that had something similar on here was i broke off the rivet that hold the wiper to the arm and i just replaced the wiper and but a screw and nut in place of the rivet. ill try to get a pic for ya... not great but definitely better then trying to take apart the wipers to only change the blades.

 

Just got back from the Toyota dealer today... found out that the blade can be replace, unfortunately living in Michigan non of the parts stores seem to carry the kind of blade I need so I'll have to order it through Toyota. It's only $11 and I can order the slider as well since mine has been infected with rust.
