Another 4runner redo!!

I have never been very happy with the way my truck flexs. The kid i bought it from installed a pro comp lift that is rock hard. It might as well be lifted with cinder blocks.

Anyways i had some first gen 2wd rears laying around.

Question: are these too soft to handle the weight of the sbc???

I know RUF are a popular swap/ but is 2wd ok?

here are some pictures of the new stance with 2wd rears.
i love shackle angle now!!!

still need new u-bolts, and a flat pitman arm, then i wanna try these babies out.

Plus i think i moved the axle forward an inch or so, and she doesn't look so tippy anymore!!!!!

looks good, you may want to add one more leaf just to make the pack last longer. but youw ill love these springs, yes they are super soft and flex great.

they wont sag more with normal driving but if you wheel if hard they may break after awhile.

reason being that if there are too few leaves in the pack the axle will twist under heavy load, which is called axle wrap. and that can damage the leaf springs, but adding another leaf will make the pack stronger and less likely to twist.

I AGREE. when i moved it around the garage a little today a noticed that it's REALLY soft up front. which is what i want!!

im waitin for my u-bolt flip to arrive. then i will decide after a few flex tests.

when i decide to add the leaf, where should i put it? i think i might be affraid to cut the centering pin on the pack due to previous nightmares!!!

i think i should put it on the bottom.

i was also wondering how much up travel most people have with this setup!!!!

it looks to me that i might have 2 inches or so, MAX!!

I've seen it done, throw an AAL in thier if they are too soft.. really though, the best way to tell is to drive it. just make sure if you leave it, get some sort of anti-wrap.. I like the shackle angle too..

When I built my ruf pack I used the top 3 main leafs from the rear pack and the lower 3 leafs from a 3" all pro front spring pack.

This picture shows the 2 rear main leafs and 4 lower all pro leafs. I ended up swapping the third leaf for a softer pack.

From the research I did on them, I figured using some new leafs mixed with old would give me a longer lasting pack. And I would run at least 5 leafs in the pack, if not 6. As my pack is now, it doesn't take much to go into negative arch. I will be installing bump stops this week, and wheeling it this weekend to see how everything performs.

If you end up buying an add-a-leaf, the vendors have instructions. I think WabFab and ToyTech both sell AAL's
