so today i replaced the oil, spark plugs, air filter, and oil filter... before my idle was at about 700 and now its at about 1500... any ideas?

i don't know if this matters, but i went from NGK plugs to bosch +4

You mean after it's warmed up it still idles that high?

Maybe you have a vacuum hose not attached..?

 

Turn your idle down lol. Could be that with your recent tune up your getting more spark =ing more rpms...?

 

Yeah, could be that your engine is running correctly so now you gotta turn down your idle.

Ok Year/make/model? Make sure all vac lines if any where disconnected are re-connected. NGK is better anf recommended for toyotas... bosch was not the best way to go should have kept NGK.... But its your truck.

Have you let it warm-up to see what its idle was then? Or is that what it is at operating temp? Theres a vac leak somwhere most likely. NOTE: "Never adjust the idle on a fuel injected engine." Or you will never get it back perfect. If its not idling properly then theres something wrong. Check vac leaks. Just back track and look around. Plug a vac ling into a wrong spot where another vac line is supose to go? Mixed up. Does it run rough upon this idle? Intake tube tight? Mass air flow plugged in?

 

Its definately not a temp issue... I warmed it up for quite a bit and took about a 20 trip. I will check the lines but I highly doubt it since that was my first guess and I've checked them already...

 

Sorry to all for bumping a necro-thread, but I am having this exact same issue after a plug change on my 96 V6 4Runner. I've checked my hoses so I'm stumped. Thanks.
