New pic and transmission question for '87 4Runner

Hey Guys,

Here's a pic of my newly acquired '87 4Runner from my in-laws divorce!

Have a transmission problem that has just started. I have a four speed auto tranny that on cold mornings or cold nights when I start to drive it, it wants to stay in third gear a long time and wind out; finally, it will change into fourth and everything's fine. After this, any time I stop, cut it off and start it up to drive again, it shifts fine. I changed the tranny fluid and filter after it started doing this. Drove it today; it was warmer and had no problem. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks out to TopDownRunner for his suggestion on greasing some of my zerk fittings on u-joints and cardan joints.

Thats just what they do. When cold it wont go past 3rd, once it warms up it will go into 4th. Do yourself a favor and swap in a 5spd manual. That auto is junk.

The a340 tranny has a temp probe, until the tranny temp reaches 180 degrees it wont shift into O/D, if I remember correctly, mine does it in the winter so I just let it warm up before I go.
