Are you supposed to have to kill the engine to shift into 4 low?
I posted a few that my 95 4 runner auto wasn't going into 4 low. Today, just for the hell of it, I tried killing the engine, then putting it into 4 low, then cranking it back up. It worked!!!!! Is this common, I don't have the owners manual. Thank's

Thank's, I have tried it numerous times sitting still. Neutral, park, the shifter is smooth & the transfer doesn't make any noises, it was just staying in 4 high. I just decided to try it with the engine killed & it in neutral & it worked....seems pretty weird to me. Thank's, Mike

Did it go back into 4high without turning off the motor?

Yep it will go into 4 high or 2 high w/o killing the motor. Tried to put it into low again & it was staying in 4 high. Killed the engine, put it in neutral, put it in 4 low & it worked....tried it several times. Thank's, Mike
