I have a 2002 tacoma 3.4 swaped into my 92 pickup. I noticed yesterday while parked in the driveway that it was leaking coolant on the back of the engine. After doing some investigating it looks like it is coming from the plate that is sandwiched between the heads, block, and intake. I know there are some freezeplugs under there, but what else could it be leaking from, and after I take the intake off how am I going to beable to see where exactly it is leaking from?

Tear it apart and replace the gaskets.

 

Ok,,, which ones, the ones going from the heads to the lower intake, the one that connects the bypass hose to the block, the head gasket, or it could be the freeze plugs. I guess a better question is, since the cooling system will be apart it's not like I can pressure test it, and chances are that if it is from the gasket on the head to the intake I won't be able to tell when I pill it apart, or will I? I have now idea, I'm at a loss right now. Think that because I used green coolant instead of the Toyota red that it could have mad it leak?

 

Dude nobody but me has replied because how are we supposed to know where its leaking? Its your truck, we arnt there, therefore its impossible for us to diagnose the problem.

 

I get it, just wondering if there was a way to pinpoint the leak if it's not obvious after I take it apart.

Sounds good. Hopefully I can get to work on it soon. Have to get my other car running first. I'm so tired of workin on !! I bought a Cressida for $1500 as beater/commuter, battery went "dead". While putting a new one in, saw that the cable going to the starter was corroded, so now that's one more thing I've got to make time to work on. Sorry for the rant. Thanks for the the input fellas.
