Switching from 16" wheels to 15" Good/Bad?

So I had a 99 tacoma, totaled it and am getting a 98 4runner. I have some new tires on my tacoma and the guy who is selling me the 4runnner is buying my taco. I was just going to swap out the wheels but I just realized that my taco wheels are 15" and the 4runner's I believe are 16" . Is this a bad idea?

Should I just keep the 16" wheels on there and cough up the dough for new tires when needed?

I figure they switched to 16" cause of the weight difference in the 3rd gen 4runners?

Thanks for helping me out.

I don't believe the 15" will clear the rotors on the 4runner if it does have the 16".

15" won't work on the 4Runner period if it has 16" now.

Try searching the forum as this has been discussed just a few times.

Welcome, yourrealdad to yotatech. You can get a lot of answers and opinions here. I have no idea if your brakes will allow you to fit 15 inch rims on your truck or not but I would just go to a tire store and tell them you are thinking about putting on some new 15 inch rims. they will be happy to just jack up your truck and test fit the 15's on your hubs front and rear to check fitment or you can do it yourself. If they rub anywhere on the face of the rim only then you can use spacers for clearence. If the wheels simply don't get past the diameter of the brakes (probably caliper) they won't work at all.

15 inch tires are a bit cheaper than the equivelent sized 16 or bigger. Check that out.
