headman header no egr tube

headman header no egr tube

I have a 89 22re and I keep getting a code 71, the headman header I have has no connection for the egr tube so I assume that is why Im getting that code, anyway does anyone know how to get around this. thanks diablo

Blow a hole in the connector tube and weld an egr bung. 10 minute fix.

Should be no EGR tube, it goes inside the head, the block off plates below redirect exhaust back into the head for the EGR:


Maybe you are referring to the PAIR tubes, those bolt on in place of the block off plates. If missing, you would just need to drill a hole for the gas to pass through.

Thanks for the input , my header does not have block off plates and what they did was where the egr tube comes from the egr valve headed toward the header its stopped short and pinched flat and welded closed, I guess maybe a junk yard for the complete tube and a new header with to connect to? Or the egr valve is opening it is just not getting anyhot exhaust gases, is that going to effect anything besides a code 71? thanks John
