Front Lockrite, used it for the first time today

I decided to run up into the mountains today and try out the front locker that I got installed yesterday afternoon.

Wow what an improvement!!! I didn't do very many rocks since we were the only vehicle out there at the time but I did do some long mud runs that used to give me problems. I also did one small rock shelf that in the past I had to pick a very specific line to get up since I would always lift a front tire. Not this time baby!! Lifted a front tire and kept on climbing.

did get stopped once by some snow (about 10 inches I guess) since my tires are terrible in the snow and I didn't want to air down and have to drive 10 miles back to town on semi flat tires. No worries though as I got farther than I thought I would.

Steering is a little heavier than normal but nothing to complain about although my forearms are sore, I'm a wuss though.

The only real issue I had today was the oil pressure dropped to nothing on the way out of the trail. No I didn't actually lose oil pressure, the gauge or sending unit took a dump on me. Any ideas on how to diagnose an oil gauge/sending unit?

That's why I run an aftermarket gauge.

You have about 7 aftermarket guages, dork. You should build yourself a new cluster.

You still haven't sold me on any lockers. Ok, ok, maybe you have, I just can't afford it as of yet.

Well, I just picked up the lockright for my V6 for $246, from an outfit in Cashmere Wa......I'm sure the 4 cyl would be cheaper......now I just need to find the time, and another pair of hands to install mine....lol

I won't go aftermarket gauges unless I really have to. I like the look of the SR5 cluster and it makes the rig more of a "sleeper". It looks almost stock with bigger tires. I like my rig to look like it has no business wheeling where we are.

Let me tell you this. That front Lockrite along with the Aussie in the rear turned this rig into a tank. When the weather clears up, and when I can find someone to wheel with me in another rig, I'm going to tackle this.

That is my ultimate climb.

Of course you would. You're rig is a beast! You'd make that climb without breaking a sweat.

That is a sweet run. I would LOVE to tackle that!
I think you would do fine with what you have now. Just pick your route and go for it.

*grin* You'd fail. That climb is a lot harder than it looks. I tried it a while back with one locker and made it about 40 feet. Next week we'll see how far I can make it if I can convince someone to go with me.

Locked front and rear makes an incredible difference. Youll make it up. The places mine goes locked front and rear makes me contemplate not spending the money on the SAS and just trying to clearance a nice aggressive 35, because I think my crappy 32 ATs hold me back more than anything.

front lockers sure do make a world of difference! before you know it though you will snap the the passenger side CV drive flange to the diff, I did it just last week! They sheer right off like bottle caps... easy fix though! I have a pic of it in a thread I started somewhere around here
