well after some thought on what i want. I chose to do a ford 289 swap in my 1990 toyota pickup. ill be picking up the motor tomorrow after noon it comes with a c5 trans. but ill be using the toyota v6 trans. with the ford 302 bellhousing adapter from north west offroad. should be a fun and different swap, i just got tired of being past on the road with my 22re. dont get me wrong i love that motor and ill keep it and look for a truck that needs one because they are the best for offroad in my opinion. ive gone farther than any other truck with that motor, but i think this will be a really fun and cool truck when its done. ill also be painting my truck either gloss blue or gloss red with a black bed liner strip on the bottem. havnt figured that out yet so if guys want throw me some paint colors theres a pic of how the truck sits now 4 inch lift with 33s

 

well i picked up the motor today. its a ugly blue but ill get that fixed with some paint dont know what color. probably red but we'll see. it turns over freely and feels like its got good compression.it came with a c5 3 speed auto transmission, so i don't know a lot about the ford trans. but from what ive read the c5 is pretty much the same as the c4 just beefier lol so can anyone tell me if the tranfercase adapter from advanced adapter would fit http://advancedadapters.com/product/1710/50-4400.html if it does it would cheaper than buying a bellhousing adapter and save me some money.

 

orrr you could get a 4x4 C6 i think?? n just bolt it all up...but ur gonna have to make a tranny x member if you dont use the toy tranny so the belhousing adapter might be your best bet if you dont have a welder/ fabricator handy

 

with the transfer case adapter it brings everything to stock length so i wouldnt have to move the x member

 

well i ordered the transfer case adapter today from northwest off road and i dont see why everone has a problem with them the service was great. the price was 660 shipped to alaska so it was cheaper than going with aa. i also i got a free truck yesterday an 87 pickup needs a motor so i have 2 projects now ill post that one on a separate thread with pics. so does any one have any ideas on paint choice

 

i started working on the truck today, didnt do a lot just pulled off the fenders, hood, bumper. ill prolly start pulling the motor and tranny tomorrow. the transfer case adapter should be in tomorrow or wendsday. ill post some pics when its farther a long.

Problem is with northwest, is they have bad service if you ever have problems with their products. Thats why NWOR stands for No Warranty Or Returns

 

i see.. well what i got wasnt a northwest product i got the tranfer case adapter from Adavance adapters i didnt know they went through them i thought they made there own. but i got it cheaper through them than AA

well im gonna start the work today pull the 22re and tranny. i might set the new motor in but im not sure. i have to figure out what im gonna do with the motor mounts. ill post pics

 

so ive been wondering if i should get 35s. im putting in a ford 289 with a c5 3 speed. right now i have 33s with 4:10 gears im worried that im gonna have high rmps on the highway what do you guys think will 35s fix that or will 33s be fine? heres the link to the build with pics of how the truck sits now

Have you decieded weither you are going to use the ford trans or the toyota with the NWOR bellhousing?

 

ya im using the c5 ford transmission with the advanced adapters t-case adapter

 

after a couple months of not working on it i decided it was time to finish it. yesterday a friend of mine made motor mounts the bolt in to the stock toyota frame mount. i just need to figure out how to get the electrical and radiator in heres some pics of the motor and the mounts.

 

Awesom project! I few years back iI almost traded my 89 for an 88 with an efi HO 5.0 swapped into it.
I regret not doing it now but it the overall condition of the truck wasnt the best in comparison to mine aside from the swap.
Im really excited to see the end result of your project.

I used a radiator from a sprint car which is all aluminum. cheep too at $150. Fits betwen the frame rails and keeps the motor cool so far. You may have issues with the upper rad hose and alternator. Mind you mine is 5.0 mustang motor and has a serpentine belt. yours might be OK
