22RE starts sputtering at 2500 rpms

hi guys, need some help here.

I have an 87 4Runner with the 22RE, it started sputtering from idle to about 2000 thru 2500 (not sure, don't have a tach).

It recently was giving me a problem with a very rough idle, after replacing the fuel filter and checking the fuel pump pressure, it turned out to be a bad connection on the TPS.

But know, the issue is that it still sputters at higher rpms, it seems like its missing either more air or more fuel.

The same thing happens when I'm driving, I can not make it to run faster than it did before, it bogs down, no more power.

Does any one have any ideas?

P.S. I also replaced the ECU and it acts the same way...

hi, thanks for the repply.

See, that's the funny thing, the engine is not putting out any codes, I'm not saying that the O2 sensor can't be wrong, but it just seems odd.

could it be a bad TPS?

it turned out to be the fuel pressure damper, it was starting to go out (it was leaking gas and I plugged the hole with a screw). I replaced it (expensive little f#$%@r and just as I replaced it, it ran great.

thanks for your posts...
