22r to 22re swap
Ok I have a 91 2wd with a bad 22.re. Not exactly sure what's wrong with it I was told it has a stuck or bent valve a friend of mine said it was locked up but let's just say I don't know for sure. I have a 87 22r that's running but has milky oil, don't know the history on that motor either. What I do no for certain is that it has 170xxx miles and the 22r has not been licensed on the road since 2003 its been at a deer lease only used in the winter time and sat after hunting season was over. The reason I mentioned this is because I was told that the way its been used can cause the condensation to build up in oil and make it milky. I need to get this 22r motor in my 91 22re setup. Do I just swap the intakes and install motor (if they can be swapped) I've already started taking out 22r I did start it twice it was not knocking or anytjing but I only let it run for a min or so because coolant was low. What do I need to check on this 22r before preceeding? can I check anything now that its been unhooked? Or do I need to just completely rebuild 22r then swap intake? Or take head off 22r and put it on 22re and rebuild? Can I do a partial rebuild? How can I check the head gasket on 22r after its out. I already had planned on checking timing cover. Is there anyway possible way check this motor (22r) is solid. I really don't know what to do. Any help advice ect... will greatly be appreciated I'm not a mechanical genius but I can follow directions. The tech write ups I've read have got me this far. But I don't want to put a engine in that needs attention might as well take care of it while its out.
