Can anyone give me a lead at to where I can get a fuel tank sender for an '86 22REC pickup? The discharge line is rotted right off the one I have.

 

I pretty sure that regardless of fuel tank size the pick-up assembly is a common part. Depending on the condition of the plate that fastens to the tank that the suction pipe goes through, you can cut the old one off drill it out and solder a new one in. Of course you have to re-use the old flare fitting that the flex hose fastens to. If you use 5/16 gas line, you can slide the fitting on and then single flare the pipe. Heating up the pipe with a propane torch allows it to flare easier. If not it may split before it actually flares. I fixed one this way a few years back and it lasted another couple of years. The one in my truck now wasn't for a pick-up, but it was Toyota and it was close so I made it fit. Many gas tank shops carry pickup assemblies from dismantled vehicles that are generally in good shape.

I Googled "Toyota fuel tank sender" and found a dealer in Texas that has one for $137 with free shipping. There's also a guy on eBay that has one for $130 plus $15 shipping. Up here, in the outback of New Hampshire, steel brake and fuel lines don't last very long. There was nothing left of the steel pressure line out of the sender and the body of the sender itself is paper think. A replacement is the only option for me I'm afraid.
