2nd Gen 4Runner HID Install
Put some 6k HIDs in my 4runner and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out
huge upgrade from the stock dingy lights. I'll get some more pictures later. Not bad for 40 bucks if you ask me.

Details:
Bi xenon, highs ONLY ( no high/low ) 6k HIDs. 9004 bulbs... they are not H4s!
Like I said, i'd post more pictures later. The 1st picture is from my house all the way down the street... you can see that they are blinding. I'll take some pictures later tonight. but to give everyone an idea? from my house, all the way down the street. it lights up the entire house, inside the garage and into the windows.

Well, with high beams only, there should not be any low beam cut-off in the light pattern.

to further explain... its not JUST high beams. its both high beams and low beams. what I mean is it doesn't give me an open to turn high beams on and off.. when i turn my lights on, thats it. if I flick my high beams on or do a "flash" it turns the lights off completely and immediately back on. make sense?

its not a wiring issue... its how the kit was constructed. there are Hi/low kits, but I just didn't buy that one If i turn my lights on in general, it turns the bulbs on. there is no high to low setting anymore. is what im trying to say... you just turn your lights on and bam, you have your lights. if i flash my high beams, or turn the high beams on, it turns off the lights and turns them back on. this is how they are supposed to be, because there is no longer a high or low beam. its strictly just 1 mode and 1 set up.
I'll take a video of how it works...

its not both..you have low beams, but that scattering you think is highs is called glare, because the headlamp housing is not designed for those bulbs so you get glare everywhere

no glare is when your lights look they are on highs but they are on lows and your blinding everyone because the light is scattered everywhere, and i'm sure you've been blinded yourself..thats glare, if you notice on cars that have HIDs from factory you don't get that, especially with projectors

I spent $200 for the high/low magnetic HID and they work pretty good. Did a H4 conversion and was disappointed as the supplied Hella's weren't as good as the sealed beam NightHawk's a friend put me on to my kit and in subarctic Canada where it IS black as pitch I'm happy.

Now, swapping HID's into off-road only lights, I'm all for it

Why not the high/low bulbs?
Sorry to hear you did away with the option of High/Low...
Purchased ballasts on ebay for $25
Purchased Hi/Low 9004 bulbs for $15
Have been running them for maybe 2 years without ANY problems. Ballasts have a 3 year warranty. I feel bad when I hear someone spent anything over $100 for their HID setup. I would be curious as to where you placed your ballasts however. Mine are zip-tied securely inside the fender.

mine were only 40 bucks.
Its really not that big of an issue. my ballasts and bulbs came with a limited lifetime warranty. as long as they dont get damaged in anyway they cover them.
so i cant complain on that. but yeah, I like the idea of not having the high/low. the people in front of me might hate it but... oh well.
I did the same thing with my ballasts. they're velcro'd into the inside of the fender...
