Split Rear Seat Won't Fold Down 87 4Runner

My rear seats both are missing the pull up knob mechanism that allows the rear split seat to fold front for cargo space. I don't want to destroy the seat just to get at the latches. Can anyone show me a picture of how the mechanism works and can I make some kind of cheat tool to unlock the latch?
Thanks
Jim

Thanks , a picture would really be nice. Thanks, whenever you have time. I studied that hole with a flashlight and was tempted to start removing the heavy wire seam holders but I'm glad I asked first.

I'll look again tonight but I do not think I can see the rod. But it would be really odd to have both sides missing. Maybe it is leaning out of sight. That is why I was hoping to see a photo of the mechanism.

Yea that has to be what's happening. I'll find that rod. maybe I'll even tie a string to them and run the string up through the dashboard, then I'd have the only remote seat lowerers. HA
Thanks Guys.

I had the same problem. Ended up using skinny needle nose with a 45 bend in them to find the rod. Took a few minutes but it is possible.

Do you have the other knob in place? If so, unscrew it, take to a hardware store and find something with the same thread that you can then thread into the one with the missing knob, and presto!
