Im new to this site. please be gentle! Im in the process of trying to sort out ALL the info on 4runner lifts. Im starting from scratch with a 97 limited stocker.Im on a very strict budget and plan to piece it as I can afford. I am planning a Tundra TRD/FJ80 set up. What i want to know is. Will the front springs off a 91 LC give me 3 inches of rear lift. I have a line on some for a fair price $50. I see postings about 94-97 and the different rates with the 2WD set being the desired set up. I think I saw some reguarding the earlier LC, but cant find it. What is the difference between the earlier FJ and the FZJ if there is any. Any help would be appreciated.

 

They did not make a 2wd landcruiser that i am aware of. I dont think there is an exact list of the coils from different years as some years had a couple different springs. i think 91-92 lc coils are taller. I went with the first set i found for sale on ih8mud and just tried them out. i am happy with mine. I probably got 4" of lift over my slightly sagging 99 factory coils. i think mine are from a 92

Elton Is one supposed to be longer than the other. Ive read that somewhere and your pics seem to indicate that.

 

Yes the drivers side coils are longer to accommodate the weight of the gas tank

 

so, SC4 do you know of the difference between the LC coils. Which year did you use. I have a line on a set of 91 fronts and am wondering about lift. I talked to steve at SS and he wasn't volunteering any info, but said there was a difference and said you wanted the shortest ones. Thanks

 

Yes there are 7, 8 and 9 wrap coils. I dont know if they are year specific, but I think they are. I have the 9 wrap coils with 1" spacers and get about 6" of lift. You'll get about 3-4" of lift with the 7 and 8 wrap coils. Just ask the guy to count how many turns are on the coils.

The shorter coils pictured above are 8 wrap, or thats what I counted.

Mine came from a 96 LC with 8wraps and it gave me about 4 inches of lift. It also pushed the axle about half an inch to the passenger's side which I fixed with a homemade adjustable panhard.

 

will my truck ride like crap if i do the OME struts and springs in the the front with the daystar 2.5 spacers? thinkin about doin it like that to get the front higher than the back. i prerunn the beach a lot. its 2wd

The Tundra TRD coils will give you ~2" up front. You may want to add a spacer also. (get the spacer that goes between the coil and the top plate)(top out spacers can over extend the CVs when drooped)

 

so if i use the ome struts with the 2.5 lift coil springs. i can also add a 2.5 spacer with no problems?

 

I've done a bit of research for a lift last year (before the economy caught up with Alaska) and this is the setup I was going to go with. The LC coils that I were going to get were this:

I know I don't need the Panhard Bar AND the drop bracket. It was one or the other when it comes time to order. From what I found it would be in the 3 1/2 - 3 3/4" ballpark of lift.

 

i thought the old man emu lift coils and struts for the 3rd gen was just a 2.5? im confused. are u thinking 3.5 to 3.75 if i use the spacers that i already have?

 

Maybe I'm wrong in the measurements... It's been a year since I was last looking at this. But from the research I did I believe these LC coils are the same as a very popular lift and the seller advertises 3 1/2" rear lift. Also, at the time I was emailing others who use those LC coils and each stated about the same height, 3 1/2" after it settles.

That has nothing to do with spacers. I wont use them in my lift so any research I did was not dealing with them.
