I'm pretty sure its legal to swap cabs if you move the door jamb plate and the VIN plate off the old cab. That way its like the same numbers matching truck?

IDK, don't quote me on it, now that I think about it that seems even more illegal.

You should be able to do that. I would just check with your DMV, I'm sure they probably have some form to fill out statin you swapped the cab but the chassis vin number is correct.

where you located?

edit: I would find out about the legal issues of swapping a VIN data plate...if it was so easy what would prevent someone from stealing a nice truck and using the vin from a trashed out legal truck? JMO

If you part it out, let me know what condition the interior door panels are in, mine are trashes from where someone stole the speakers out of the doors!

I wouldnt cut and weld any part of your cab back together it really compromises the strength of the cab if you were ever in another roll over. I have done two cab swaps on my truck do to roll overs its not bad if you get a cab that has the same wiring harness for your motor and what not. Also After one of my swaps i gotr pulled over for speeding and the cop noticed the cab vin# didnt match the registration and i had to take my truck to some state police place were they fed a lil camera into my frame to check vin#'s. Im sure the DMV could help with clarifying what you would need to do if you do the swap. .2$
