dash board recovery

well after putting it off for the longest time...i decided to go at it.To my surprise the dash was in good shape thanks to the original owners who covered the dash with vinyl.
how it started

ducted taped closed and hit it with the heat gun to close the gap

and after some cleaning and sanding here it is

Great job.... My dash had several cracks and the speaker hole, was just that a HOLE. I used JBweld and bondo, filled the cracks and HOLE, sanded it down and painted it with VHT Krinkle paint. It came out pretty good. Again Great Job on your dash.

You are a craftsman. That is quite a makeover.

confused on what ????..........the duck tape was used to hold the ends together as i used the heat gun to loosen the vinyl and foam.I then heated it and shaped it as much as i could back into shape......my whole cab is done now along with new carpet.

How did you hide the seams that were cut in the vinyl? Did you rewrap the foam pad with new vinyl or did you use some kind of adhesive to adhere the existing vinyl? Whatever you did, it looks great!

From what I saw/read/understand he didn't have any cracks to fill. His dash was protected by the vinyl cover, he used the heat gun to reshape to original fit.

Here is a good thread on a dash restoration
