running water pump w/o center bolt?

In reinstalling the water pump in my 85 pu, I managed to bust off one of the 8 10mm bolts that hold it to the block (the bolt in the center near the pulley/blade shaft). No luck drilling it out. Is it possible to run the water pump without this bolt if I seal it well?

If it doesn`t leak then you will be fine, otherwise you will have to some how remove the broken bolt and fix it.

Well there's the rub, will it leak or not? I was going to Baja on Tuesday and was just hoping someone had tried it successfully because I need to put the beast back together ASAP. Looks like I'll take it in to a machine shop tomorrow, though. Thanks kindly for the reply.

i had that happen to me. they actually arn't 10mm bolts, thats the size socket you use. im pretty sure they are 6mm
for me it broke off at the surface of the water pump so i just pulled the water pump off and used vise grips to get the bolt out
