After about 40k on my Wild Spirit TXR II's they were wearing past the siping and have pretty severe weather cracking around the rim area. Not to mention noticable cupping, despite rotating them every 5-8k. A local Goodyear dealer gave me a sweet deal on a set of Fierce's relatively new Attitude M/T tire in the 285/75 R16 flavor.

Once you get past the name, these look like pretty sweet tires. Hopefully, they'll do well on the wheeling trips I take and the daily driving I do. They're on order and should be here next week. Once installed, I'll post a quick review. A picture for reference...

 

How many ply is it ?

 

The 285's are only available as an E load rated tire (10 ply). From the limited info that's available about them online, I've read that they're a 3 ply sidewall, but am not 100% sure.

 

FIERCE..... good luck. you'll need it... my shop stopped carrying them due to complications...

 

Do I dare ask what kind of complications? The owner of my local GY dealer said they had some issues when they first came out, but have since been a very reliable tire.

 

abnormal wear, cupping, blowouts. keep in mind every customer who bought them had them rotated every oil change. (we rotate tires with every oil change as a "courtesy service" when in fact its to get a look at the brakes to try to sell brakes. we have the cheapest oil change in town - 11 bucks - so go figure where they get their oil changed at.)my company decided to stop carrying them after one blew out on the front and the vehicle almost went over the railing on the freeway.... yet they changed their policy and said the better tires go in the rear baldest tires in the front.... makes no sense. sorry for the ramble...

No problem and thanks for the info. Several guys run them around here and have been pretty happy with them so far. They pull really well on trails and in the mud and seem to be decent on the road too. Theirs have been wearing pretty well, but we'll see. I couldn't turn them down for the price I paid.

Well, I sold the 4Runner about 9 months ago to a guy that lives pretty close to me. The Fierce's have been replaced by a set of BFG A/T's. The guy that bought the rig is a big BFG fan and wanted something less aggressive. He said they were wearing pretty well, but were getting a little too loud for his tastes. IIRC, they were about $210 each out the door, a very nice tire for the money.

 

Alot of the company trucks run them, they last about 25K to 30K...but they drive them ROUGH...would probably last around 40K or more on a normal driven toyota..
