I'm in Madison and am not aware of any place in particular other than the dealers Smart Motors and Lancaster. Smart Motors has been OK, not great. I wish I had better options and will watch this post to see if anyone has better recomendations.

When doing brakes on my pickup, we called Lancaster and a guy drove out to DeForest to help us! It was pretty cool! And what are you looking to do??

Front end stuff mostly. Lower ball joints, tie rod ends, steering rack bushings, alignment, fuel filter, etc. I have all the parts, just need someone to put them in. Would rather not pay dealer prices...plus the dealers in this town aren't my favorite people. The parts guys at Lancaster are good, but their service sucks big time.

I am thinking about picking up a beater and am looking for a mechanic/parts place/advice too. Hope there is someone here (Madison) who is better than a dealer...

I have a 1994 Toyota Pickup I bought from a friend who needed money for income taxes. Leaking head gaskets especially the rear two cylinders. The heads are rebuilt and very nice and clean as are all the parts I removed, blasted, painted, ready to install. I installed new rear brakes, new brake lines, new gas tank and gas lines. Ready to install the heads. But I don't know the engine well and would prefer to hand the project over to someone who has more familiarity with the Toyota V-6. It is fuel injected but has many tubes and vacuum activated valves etc. The truck is located near Madison Wisconsin. Is there someone nearby who wants to take on this project? i am getting on in years and want this project completed while I am still young enough to use the truck.
