I have a 99 Limited with a dead transmission. I have found a used 98 A340F locally and wanted to swap that in next weekend. My question is, in swapping to this tranny, will I retain the AWD aspect of the truck or will I lose it by switching to the used tranny?

 

You'll keep it, the AWD is inside the transfer case.

 

So if I understand correctly, since my Limited has the electronics and computers for AWD, any A340F will work, right?
