96 4Runner suspension recall
Does anybody have info. on upgrades for 96 4Runner suspension. I'm not looking to go taller, just improve the ride and handling. After the factory recall on the stock springs the rear is everywhere but the road. I figured Bilstein shocks will help somewhat but those replacement springs from the recall are dangerous. Any help or comments out there?

Or Performance Products 1" lowering springs... and they are progressively wound so it won't be too harsh. I had them but never mounted them on my truck as I quickly found this board and decided to go up... not down. If that isn't enough for you get some stiffer sway bars. But do the Bilsteins first and see if that doesn't stiffen things up enough for you. Personally I say the stiffer the better for safety but, some can't handle the bumps, or have a significant other that cant

Hi, I was thinking of getting the recall done on my 1996 4Runner -- the back-end seems to be moving around a lot.
What is the general consensus - was the recall a step "backward" - what are the complaints against it?
thanks

My experience with the spring recall was not favorable. I use air bags inside the springs for ride height when towing. The new springs are to have an inner rubber core that I assume dampens the spring rate. The problem is my air bags take there place and I believe cause problems. Without the dampener the back end is all over the road. God help me when I hit a bump while in a turn. That's just my story. I'm considering new springs all around, sway bars and Bilstein shocks. Nothing money can't fix.

I thought after they did mine my back end started to sag a little more, especially on the drivers side seemed to me almost 1" difference at times. All is better now the lift is on, level once again...
PS.the funny thing is I had this done 2 times for free since I wanted to be sure they got the right one on the right side because of the gas tank weight.
