small coolant leak by the top radiator hose going to the engine

i replaced the hose could this mean its the thermostat houseing that is leaking

The thermostat housing connects to the lower cooling pipe. There is a gasket under the water outlet that the upper hose connects to at the engine. It is a 4 dollar part so it may be worth looking into.

3.4 theres a puddle on the timing cover sittng below the hose gets on the belt and squeeks

well fsm recomends that if collant gets on your timing belt that it should be replaced jus fyi

not the timing belt the drive belts its a really slow leak

I would do a pressure test and see if you can tell where it's squirting out from. Maybe the hose fitting on the top of the engine where the top hose connects. There are 3 bolts that hold the fitting on if I remember right which if loose/corroded can cause a leak.
