My rear ABS light comes on
#1
Hey guys the other night while stopping quickly and turning into a driveway my rear ABS light came on. It went off after turning the rig off but came on last night while mudding in the hills. I was climbing a trail and I am not sure when it came on but sometime when climbing. Any ideas?

Sometimes a sticking parking brake system (cable, brakeshoes, etc.) can cause wierd stuff like this. Check it over first.
P.S. I thought I needed a new alternator cuz the everything would dim intermittantly -- the pos. battery terminal was loose.:pat:

Could be an ABS Relay on its way out...I didn't have the intermediate light, mine was on everytime the car was on...I got the new Relay installed and its working great now.
Hope that helps...just my $.02

It might have thrown a code, check that. The abs sensor is on the top of the rear diff and there's a simple electrical test you can do to see if the sensor itself is still good.

Hi
I had my ABS light come on in my 3rd gen. All I had to do was clean the contacts (on 3rd gen they sit on the axel at each well) and it cured it. Maybe you have some dirt in there, it would be worth a try.
Do a search on ABS light and you should find some info.
Good luck
Carsten

I'm with Roadtripr on this one check your contacts in your axle... I have had this same problem. even after you clean them you will still have to get the it coded. other wise the abs light will stay on. mines been on for 2 years.......
