People That Have Done AFM Swap, Question ?.
Its been several months since some of you have swapped the stock AFM for a larger one, those of you that have done this on a 22RE and have had this mod for a while now, what kind of improvements have you noticed, better throttle response, better gas mileage, maybe a little more power ?. Is anyone using an air filter on the AFM itself ?. Im getting ready to do this mod on my 4Runner because the hose that conects to the throttle body has a big crack in it and i already have the larger AFM, it came off of a 5M-GE engine, i also have the elbows and 3'' aluminum thin wall pipe, all i need to do is put it all together.

I only have 330 miles on mine with a SUPRA afm and so far it has not missed a beat I did have to mount it a little different because of the K&N STYLE air filter back to the same stock area, throttle response is very snappy idle is very smooth not sure about mileage since it is a fresh rebuild but so far I have not got any issues with it and it's plug and play so that's another bonus
here's a couple pic's of how I have it set up

I've had great success with my supra AFM. One of my favorite mods. easy, plug and play, better throttle response and it compliments my bigbore TB, and 2.5" exhaust. I've gained some power and MPG. I too am in the process of intake/battery swap into a custom airbox with fender snorkel trying to maintain 3" or more tubing. Plus, the air sensor in my old afm was going out anyways...lol!! Here's mine currently:

LCE's tech page should have a write up, that's who I referenced.
Edit: turn wheel counter clockwise to richen, clockwise to lean. Just went back to LCE to double check. I had it backwards. already changed above.

If I am reading correctly, 22250-43110. Thanks BBP!!
In 83 the part number switched to 22250-43150, I haven't looked into how much the wiring switched between the 2.
I thought I found one on Craigslist. A.Wilson 013 went down to go get it, since he called and they told him they had the air flow sensor.
He gets down there and it was carbed!!! The guy working there kept going on and on about how it has to be there its the only motor it came with. Alex couldn't convince the guy that the MAF was on the EFI. Bonehead!!
I always check craigslist, if I find any I try to post it up.

Nice! Where'd you pick it up from? There is one in our area right now, but he opened it up and messed with the setting, not sure if he marked stock before he did it. Could be a PITA to get it back to stock.

You talking about the guy in Renton on craigslist. I talked to him Sunday night, had just come from Auburn and didn't want to head right up that way. He said he marked it, so should be able to dial it back to stock location.
