Oil Filter Dissection. Think Your Oil Filter is Good?

I got curious today while draining my oil, and decided to Google Oil Filter comparisons. I stumbled upon 300cforums.com and was surprised at the result.

Lets just say I promptly went out to go buy a new oil filter. And its half the cost of the one I usually buy!

I haven't seen a dissection of that, or a filter surface area either. Not saying it isn't, but I would be curious to see.

Toyota oil filters

I have to agree! I used Fram XGs for a long time but have found that the OEM toyota filters are better and cost about the same. As a side note I also use the OEM plugs, the price is right at $3.34 ea..
Compare prices when looking at parts, you might be suprised. My only bitch with the local Toyota dealer is the dealer himself. He owns Ford, Dodge, GM, and Toyota dealerships, and I had some bad dealings with them on a Dodge Neon. Which I actually loved as a DD, 34+ MPG witrh a manual tranny!

I went out and bought a Purolator PureONE. I used to use Mobil1, and was about to use a NAPA Gold filter. After this oil change, I think I'm gonna go with either Bosch, Purolator PureONE, or OEM. Whichever is easiest to get to.

Same here........ask for the 4.7L V8 filter as the 5.7L is a oil bath type canister filter.

Anyone know where I can get Toyota OEM parts on-line? I am 180 miles from the nearest Toyota dealer and I really like the way those OEM filters look!

wow, i just threw away my STP. Doing an engine flush w/ new oil pan gasket and oil change.

Was going to use STP because it came free with purchase of oil. Screw that, i'll spend the $7 and buy the Bosch

I'm already pushing 261k miles and no ticks or knocks, i'd like to keep it that way til 300k atleast
