Manual Brakes - did they exist on pickup?

Hello. Well I am trying to find some information on the brakes used on our old pickups. My issue is as follows:

Two days ago the power brake booster stopped working (at least it works inconsistently). The truck really stops fine but the annoying part is that it causes the idle to dance around a little when sitting in traffic. I would like to fix it but it seems like the power brake booster unit is pretty expensive. There are many many other things wrong on the truck that have to also be fixed.

I am wondering if there is a model of Toyota truck that was equipped with manual brakes. I could have sworn I've seen them without boosted brakes... Any thoughts?

I would like to simply go with un-bosted brakes. The truck pretty much stops on a dime without the booster working anyway so I figure I can eliminate some complexity with a $50 master cylinder instead of spending nearly 150 on a brake booster...

The truck is a 1980, SR5 model.

You can pick up a used brake booster for $50 or so, that is what I paid for a dual diaphram booster for my '85. Try http://www.car-part.com/
