I am removing the hubs on a 97 t100 so i can replace the front rotors and i just cant get the cone washers out I've tried to tap the hub with a soft tipped hammer but this is not getting the out.

if anyone has any tips or can help me out that would be great thanks

 

i usually give them a good wack with a brass hammer and they pop out

 

Spray LIBERAL AMOUNTS OF PB BLASTER.

Take 5lb hammer and gently wack your way around the outer hub. The cone washers should pop right out. I had to do a set on the side of route 70 2 weeks ago replacing an axle seal in a t800 kw roll off truck.

 

I don't have a brass hammer were could i get one. What else could I use and should I be hitting between the stubs on the hub?

And for a brass hammer, try a real tool store if you have one in your town or maybe a good hardware store.

 

I used an old aluminum tipped hammer i made in machine shop. I held it against each washed and beat it with another hammer. I beat the crap out of it and just when i was out of breath and about to quit the first one popped out.. The rest are easy after the first one.

 

I used a heavy brass punch and a regular 22oz framing hammer and that has worked great when ever I've needed to get them off. Just hit them firmly and they work out fine but if its the first time since new they might require some extra persuasion.

Any good hardware should have a brass hammer or punch set. If you have a Harbor freight there stuff would work just fine for this.

 

And just so we set the record straight, you are not removing the hubs on your T100. You are removing the ADD drive flange.

Auto hubs ended in 1988, and ADD started in 1989

 

Try a piece of wood and a regular heavy hammer.

 

I just tapped on the outside rim of the flange with a regular hammer and after the first cone-washer pops out, the other come out a lot easier (just like Zuke79 said).
