hey all, went out wheelin today and noticed I had an exhaust leak, so I crawl under to take a look and see this. There is a fine hairline crack where one of the tubes is welded to the flange. Im thinkin that this :

welll for shi** and giggles ide get some JB weld and try that first b4 spendin the cash for the pipe, im pretty sure it will work as long as you clean it well and follow directions

 

That i s what I was thinking, but since it is completely broken off from the flange, i did not think it would hold. But I guess it wont hurt anything to try.

 

lol well it says on the package "i fixed a cracked block in my tractor" so i guess its worth a shot

 

haha does it really? I can only imagine the guy who said that haha. But back on topic, if that does not work, is there anywhere on the web that has what I need for cheaper?

uhhh well not on the web, ive never actually searched for that lil guy, but you might wanna try a pick n pull if ya got one or check out some junkyards, or even craigslist, and find some1 thats parting a truck out...

 

JB won't handle the heat from the exhaust.

Have a shop cut and sleeve it or get it replaced.

 

what do you mean by have the shop cut and sleeve it? i have never heard of that before.

 

why not have an exhuast shop just weld for you? i'm sure they could come up with something.

 

just weld it dude..or have someone weld it .

 

Cut both pipes and have a muffler shop cut some pipe to slip over it and weld in place to the flange and further down the pipe.
I wouldn't trust a weld over the crack to fix the problem: it'll just crack again on one side of the weld or the other.

 

well after going to a few shops today to get quotes on them fixing the crack, I pretty much have my mind set on ordering a new one and putting it on myself. The shops were wanting about 40$ to do the weld. I figure why not pay the extra 30$ and get a whole new setup. So now my question is, where should I order from? has anyone seen one for under 70$? Maybe free shipping?
