Looking for an HONEST/Experienced mechanic in Tacoma, WA.

Does anyone know of a fairly well priced, and very well experienced Toyota mechanic, or any mechanic, really, in the Tacoma area? I could go as far as Olympia or Seattle if needed. We just moved up here not long ago.

I am just looking for a few basic upgrades/repairs. Mostly electrical. For my 1987 22RE 4Runner SR5.

All input is greatly appreciated.

Alex

He is a Jeep guy, but he has been doing the FJ Cruiser body mount chops, and he will be installing my new rack in the future for me.

I have heard he does very good work.
I stopped in and met him last year to shoot the breeze with him.

Not sure how well he may know the engines, but it might be worth giving him a call.

I have taken a couple rigs to a guy just over the bridge in Gig Harbor. Graff's Automotive Repair. I have had good luck with him, but call and make an appointment. He runs all off of word of mouth, and he is busy. My wife used to run a bar in Gig Harbor and is friends with him. That was the only reason I found out about him.

Edit** Corey, I sent you a PM about a week ago asking about local camping spots that are not in high-traffic areas, did you receive that?**

Corey, Kiyo and 02/89. Thank you for the tips, I will pencil them down.

Tofer,

I have not driven this thing in years. Everything worked great ( I think ) when I put it up but now there are a few problems.

1. My brights- when I pull the switch in and hold it, they are on just fine. When I push it out to leave them on, my headlights turn off.

2. Rear window- I am pretty sure it just needs the little motor that's in the tailgate.

3. Power windows and locks- They work about 1 in 10 times I try and use them... And the windows hardly go up or down when they do decide to go.

4. Also just a general tune up-- Change the spark plugs, distributor cap, wires, rotor, adjust the timing, adjust the valves, new air filter, synthetic fluids in the
engine, tranny and t-case.

my 89 does the same thing with the brights... so i gotta figure that one out myself..

the rear window is pretty simple to swap out.

the power window/lock issue sounds like it could be the relay.

the tune up should be a DIY... minus the valve adjustment.

if you want to save your self a bunch of money and do it your self with help let me know.. i have a shop space to do it if you dont have a place to work on your truck.

The headlight problem sounds like a headlight switch, you might be able to clean the contacts in the switch, they become pitted after years of use, or you could replace it.

Wow, guys. Tofer and Bob, could I get your e-mails? I would like to save some money, but I literally have no time for about another month. I would like to be able to get in touch with you then and try to get these things figured out.

Again, thanks a lot.

I do not recall getting one, I will have to go through my PMs later.
Tons of spots around here, in fact I am vacationing very soon for a whole week up at Greenwater on Huckleberry Creek.

Not to far away, and lots to do such as swimming, mountain biking, ect.
