My 4runner is overheating pretty bad. i had the head gasket replace last year and just replaced the thermostat. It over heats, or says its over heating, when I'm stopped, but while driving it runs just fine? any suggestions?

Is your water pump good, is your coolant old and cruddy?
Do you have a fan shroud?

You sure you put the right thermostat in??? What kind?

is your idle @ 800-1000 rpm , also try to flush your cooling system i yse white vinegar it breake up water deposits you need to learn the back flush technique disconnect the top rad hose and have the garden hose to the intake of the rad. truck running takes about 20 mins then drain and mix 50 50 coolant if your still having heating issues check timing , check the rad if you see crud in the rad. try to switch to a alum one fan and shroud will cause problems thats it for a cooling system its pretty basic
