Exclamation HELP! Cant pass inspection

I need my inspection sticker but both my plate lights are out. The screws are totally rusted out. Anybody know another way to get at those bulbs?

I dont think I would use a hammer, but PB and an EZ out may be helpful.
Did you strip them?

I tried soaking them and using an ez out but they are so rusted they just turn to dust. I wrecked one and decided to stop.

You could always just drill them out and then just use a size bigger screw when you go to reinstall them.

Not sure if this works, but, read somewhere if you cant get a screw out, put some valve lapping compound on the bit.

I'm thinking I'll just try to take the head off the screws so I can at least get the cover off and get at the bulbs. Then I'll worry about a more permanent fix later.

you can notch the heads with a dremel and use a flat head to unscrew them

That's a good idea. I tried that but the rust was too deep and the top of the head basically disintegrated.

I ended up taking the heads off the screws and got the covers off. I have new bulbs and electrical tape holding it together until I can get the new screws.

I'll post if I pass or fail.

Thanks for all the good advice.
