License Plate black out??
#2
I do it just because you don't know who is out there and what they have access to. Although anyone driving around you could get the plate number. For me I guess just better safe than sorry. Not to mention a lot of time we are talking about what he have in our trucks (possible things of value) etc.

i never worry about it... how many HUNDREDS of people see your rig driving around everyday? someone is more likely to run your plates or whatever locally than some random dude crawling YT 1/2 way across the country.

I agree 100% I would be way more worried about local's then people I see posting here all the time.

Some folks do it to protect their anonymity. If you have a plate # here you can go to a kiosk in the mall and get a gov't. used vehicle history report which contains enough data to begin an ID theft or get a fraudulent bank loan.
Also with a plate # showing (particularly if the vehicle has trail/road damage showing) fraudulent ins. claims can be made against you [they probably would not stick but then you have the hassle of proving it is fraudulent].
Without the plate # it is almost impossible to achieve any of these nefarious outcomes.
If you plan for the worst case you don't have to worry about it.
