Okies off-road improvement thread

The stock suspension was on its way out so I was looking into increasing my off-road capabilities with a few additions/modifications.

For the lift, I decided to go with Toytec. The kit included their adjustable coilovers in the front and OME 890's in the rear with N86 shocks.

Before:

After:

After installation, the front end was up a little high to I adjusted the coilovers down about an inch:

Overall lift was about 3 in. I went from 20" (center wheel to fender) to 23".

Although I didn't know much about lifts when I started, installation was fairly easy. The rear coils were a little tough to get out but the front coilovers are a simple bolt-in. Thanks for everyone who helped me with technical info.

It rides much better now than stock with hardly any change in gas mileage. It's a nice sight to have in my driveway too.

Up next, HD-SKO's, 285's and whatever anyone else may recommend.

That's how mine started out...then it was tires/wheels, then a front bumper, and a winch, and a... anyways, let me know how you'll like the HD-SKO's when you finally get them. I think that might be the next mod on mine. I've only seen 1, maybe 2 other 4runners with those.

Looks great! Have you decided on a tire brand and size yet?

I see one potential problem though...this is going to confuse both us at Alhambra!

LOL! That's true. Maybe you can park with your sand dune flag up.

1.tires
2.sliders
3. locker and gears at the same time if you decide

i say sliders first since as soon as you lock you will be going places that they come in handy. ask me how i know lol

im very happy with my stubbs. they are very solid. i dont ever worry when using them to pivot off rocks or smacking them. the length is good for 4runners too

1) 285 A/T's are coming up.
2) Sliders are next, I've heard nothing but good stuff from Stubbs, thanks for the input
3) Like you said, I'd be going places I normally wouldn't go with a locker so I'm still contemplating that upgrade since it's still my DD.

Installed the 24" Magnaflow this weekend along with 2 &1/2 inch pipe out the back. I wanted to go with the 18" muffler, the bigger one is plenty loud with headers.

It had a round muffler on it before, so I did gain some clearance with the oval....does that count?
