Seriously it's like 0.25" longer. I wish I had known that prior...but if you're going to run LC springs, i'd definitely recommend it.
My thoughts exactly, I'm keeping the $175 in my pocket for now. But when the top shock mount snaps or I tip my rig over, everyone is welcome to their own "I TOLD YOU SO!".

Up at the Kirkwood cabin today:

I got stuck about 6 miles down this road, spent 45 min digging out. The whole time I was dreaming of 285's!!!

I feel like the expandable bar is a little simpler and more robust, instead of increasing the length of the cantilevered panhard mounting bracket.
HAHAHA!!! oops, my bad.
here's the link for real. http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/...andardUltimate

That's a great size, I wish AT's came in that flavor. Duratrac's have a 235/85 which would make a great snow cutter.

The truck is looking good! If I could have my choice of tire it would be a BFG A/T in a 275/75R16. That would split the difference between my 265/75 and a 285 in both height and width.

Niceeeeeeeeeeeee, Okie! So you got 'em after all huh? I'm sure they'll treat you well man. They look mean on the truck!

So what size spacers are you running behind those factory 5-stars? I really wanted to keep my factory 5-spokes, but I am adamant about not running spacers.

Thanks man, seeing them on your rig was a big selling factor.

I have approx. an index finger worth of space between the tire and UCA, no spacers

No kidding! I was always under the impression that 285's wouldn't clear the upper control arm on the stock wheels. Glad to see it can be done. That almost makes me regret buying new wheels.... I got 16X8's w/4" backspacing, so they sit about 1.5" farther out than the stockers. I like having that 3 inch wider stance with the lift though.

@ALL - How much $

@ALL

I am just curious how much in parts was the ToyaTech lift.

I know bought a SS lift a few years ago for $1200 (price might have changed) and a friend helped me install it.

Before buying my lift I went to a OffRoad Warehouse in San Diego and they wanted to sell me a $3000 lift. I went with the SS.

How much does a ToyaTech cost and why is it better than some of the other options.

My Sonoran Steel 1.2 has not sagged and it has been 3 years since I bought it. I haven't added very much weight though; still have stock front bumper & skids.

Thanks

--- Brian

I just googled the Toytec website and looks like it's still $999 for the Ultimate
Lift Kit for 3rd gens.

Glad you're happy with the 1.2

new shoes!

Okie,

The 285's look great!! Glad i came across your thread.

Did you regear? Any rubbing issues?

i wanna go up to the next size BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM 255/85/16?

I live in PA and wheel spacers are illegal. I have attached a few photos with my current tires.

Some photos of my current tires and the space i have right now -

drop kit

I had my panerd par drop kit welded and it still broke loose. Might want to add a 1" front diff drop to help the angel of the cv's. But sure is a good looking yota.

Little bit of a tear-jerker looking at the old build thread. I hope this rig is somewhere happy.
