Trying to decided what would be more worth while - Tires or not

Well i currently have some cooper HT tires on my 4runner and i have a 881/890 OME lift. I was planning on getting tires here in a couple weeks but i went out and looked at my tires again and i have a good 5-6/16ths left on the tread. 90% of my driving in on road with the occasional weekend wheeling. I really like the good year duratracs and at this point and time thats what my heart is set on in 265/75/16s. Now would i be worth while to get them now or wait till i really need them. The coopers have roughly 40k on them and have probly a good 10k left. I was also thinking i might as well get the new ones and try and sell the coopers on CL for a little return but im not sure how much i could get for them. So please help me here i keep going in circles.

i can also get the best deal on the tires at the location im at, thats the other issue.

depends, new tires are always nice.

You could get two sets, and drive them till they are bald, and have the other ones new or for wheeling.

You could always put some miles on the ones you have until winter, then get new ones.

On my local craigslist TRD wheels are going for realtively cheap - like $200 to $300 for a set, more if they come with fresh tires. You might get your new tires mounted on some newish rims, and just switch out for wheeling trips until the old tires are balded out. Then sell the rims. It would tie up a few bucks, but so would buying tires you don't need.

you mention that you have an OME lift. I would get a spare set of bigger tires to fill out the fender gap a little. Maybe some mud terrains or something.

If you want the tires buy the tires. I had plenty of life left in my 28s when I bought my runner and that was the first thing to go.
