do you think a 3.4 could go 250,000 mi or more supercharged.

I was speaking to a buddy of mine last night. They took a s/c'd 3.4 to a dyno and analyzed the emmisions. He said with the s/c and no fuel mods, the engine runs very lean (like 16:1... normal is 14.7 to one). THis means that the engine is running hot- the fact that there are not a lot of people melting down their 3.4s into ingots means that those 3.4s are ridiculously overbuilt. Add the 7th injector and keep it cool and I can see 250K happening.

If taken care of, I guess I don't see why not.

Let me ask this,

I am new to the board, but not too green with forced induction. My Truck is S/C but stock. This 7th injector setup looks expensive. Why is no one running a rising rate fuel pressure regulator? I don't think it takes a whole lot more fuel to get those temps down.

I think what Matt16 posted hit the nail on the head. Im betting the owner of that truck had no clue how bad his truck was running. For all of the guys running without fuel mods...do you have an AFR guage? Are you monitoring your engine in anyway? If so Im curious too see if anyone is running close to the AFR they should be (14.7 or 11.8 at WOT). Can you run without fuel mods? Sure. Will the 3.4 take it? most likely...for a while. But youll last a lot longer and get a lot more power out of it if you do the appropriate fuel mods. In the case with URDs 7th inj kit, not only can you get the AFR back where it should be but you have the ability to tune in a good deal more power (up to 40 HP more). Its definitely wroth the coin.

170K on the engine and 165K on the S/C. No mods and the engine doesn't ping but I also rarely get the RPM's above 3800. Run's like it did when it was new. Also about to sell it so not really worried about it. lol Getting a V-8 4th Gen. It's like driving a bus but I am not off-road where size is a problem. 3 inches of lift on an 06 will take me everywhere I go in my 00.

Thats what I wanted to hear. Any injector running at 100% duty cycle will pass more fuel at 60 PSI than at 35PSI for arguments sake. I wonder if I should start a new thread as I don't want to hijack this one. But I would really like to talk about this. I feel that there is more than one way to skin this cat!

Well it doesnt take too long before this stuff gets over my head! But go ahead and start a new thread, it will probably get pretty deep pretty quick. If you are real curious then I would email Gadget at URD and let him know what you are thinking and ask his opinion. He is an honest guy and isnt going to just try and sell you his product. He will give you a straight forward answer. If you do that, be sure and post up his reply. Id like to see it.

They aren't a must, but are a good addition to an already proficient system.
