engine light on 1995 3.4L T100, down on power

I just picked up a 1995 T100 with a 5spd manual tcase and 3.4L. The check engine light is on and the engine feels down on power. It also feels kindve like its stumbling sometimes in the lower rpm range, under 2K or so... it almost makes me think its down a cylinder?

Im guessing this engine is OBDII, so i could take it to an autozone and get the code read and deleted to atleast take care of that, right?

It delivered 18mpg highway over a 250 mile trip and didnt have any heating issues or anything.

The engine has 215K miles and as far as i can tell has had no major tune up stuff. I couldnt find a sticker indicating a timing belt change, and i have no records of spark plugs/wires, etc....

So, what should i do to diagnose the engine?

well it wouldnt be cap or rotor, as far as i can tell these engines are distributorless. It looks to me like there are three coil packs, 1 for every 2 cylinders, on the passenger side of the engine.

Yes, distributorless.

3 Coil packs give sparks to 2 cylinders each. first pack powers #1 and #2 cylinders, second #3 and #4, third #5 and #6

When the coil packs go out, they quit sparking on both cylinders they control.

So, since yours is 1 and 5, it is not likely a coil pack issue.

Start with plugs and wires. That fixes most misfire issues.

Get NGK 3967 plugs, and NGK 4412 plug wires.

Got the plugs and wires today. Did a complete oil change w/ filter while i was at it. One of the spark plugs i removed had no prong on it... it wasnt pretty.

Regardless, i threw everything together and it started right up and it purrs like it should. I cant believe how well it responded to the oil change and plugs/wires. I took it for a brief spin and no more hesitation, tons more balls, and a much smoother growl.

Thanks!

Awesome! Plugs/wires solves a misfire most of the time.

What plugs/wires did you go with?

Dont use Bosch plugs on ANY motor. I've had to pull broken Bosch's out of a few Hondas.
