Talking MOAB - May 28th - June 1st 2009 (Lots of Pics... But worth the wait!)

A bunch of us from CoTTORA and some YotaTecher's all went to Moab for a fun filled long weekend.

Friday - Elephant Hill or Rusty Nail
Saturday - Steelbender or Pritchett
Sunday - Moab Rim

Carnage:
Troy aka ~TC~ Lockers on Steelbender (They mysteriously fixed themselves in time for Moab Rim)
MrDoug aka Crazy MrDoug Slashed a tire on Moab Rim, then blew a CV on Moab Rim
Eric aka FJCruzer - Rear Diff went bang at the beginning of Moab Rim (Truck was towed to junction and it is covered under warranty)
Nate aka 00RegCab - blew up his lockout, hub assembly and bearing on Cliff Hanger
Ike aka Isaac - blew up his front diff on cliff hanger

Here are my pics from Rusty Nail! All of them are here: http://cottora.shutterfly.com/3671

Troy, Nate and Shawn (ThatMoochingJeepGuy) all hit it!

The beginning of Riff-Raff. This was the optional obstacle. Though the main route seemed easier!

The other obstacle on the beginning of Riff-Raff

Shawn got wedged between a Rock and a Hard place on the 2nd obstacle on Riff-Raff. A huge boulder got wedged on his driver side...

Shawn was pinned in there pretty good!

We had to winch him out (actually all of us got winched on this obstacle) But we found a killer winch point. It was a hole in this rock!

Nate gives it a shot...

As does Troy...

Troy takes a snatch-blocked winch...

Then we come to "No Left Turn". There is a cliff off to the side...

Nate coming down the beginning of NLT

It gets tight in there... especially for IFS...

I mean Uber tight!

Troy coming down NLT

Nate getting super tippy at the end of NLT

Shawn parked on a wide spot on No Left Turn

Troy's turn to get tippy!

Jeep Arch

The end of Rusty Nail (It dumps you out right near golden crack)

Ok so the rest of the RustyNail (Well more like Gold Bar Rim) pics...
(The vast majority are the last 1/3 of this album) http://cottora.shutterfly.com/3671

Nate had to do the golden crack backwards so he could come back and do it proper... However, the crack had other ideas!

And Kids... don't do this at home. (No seriously)

Hittin' it the right way....

Shawn needs his helmet to hang with the "slow" kid!

Since the slow kid was hooked on crack... troy gave him a little pat.

And then Shawn humped him... Poor kid! (I think we'd had too much sun at this point)

The Golden Stairs

Here are my steel bender pics...

(All of the albums I am posting are here http://cottora.shutterfly.com/)

See that boulder behind the FJ? Yeah it wanted to go home with Eric....

Who likes Tippy? Ike likes Tippy!

Munny was there for support!

Note to self... don't let your stereo remote fall under your brake pedal when doing the fall!

Scoup was the best trail dog ever!

It was the luck of the Munny that saved Zach!

Crazy Doug gets his pucker on...

Posers.....

Tony gets his ohm on....

Nate tries to go back UP the fall!

Which resulted in some side-ways action!

Troy found a boulder that wanted to go with him too!

No it's not your eyes. The trail really was this way! (Witches Step)

CoTTORA does it again! (Though I forgot to get a pic of DirtyXplorer's YotaTech sticker)

Scoup enjoyed the ride

Who are these jackals?

Hab... how did we miss you? *whine* Or more importantly how did you miss the 10 toyota's decked out for wheeling driving around?

And an addition to the carnage list:

Apparently Igor blew up his rear diff on Cliff Hanger, and John has a problem with his sticking throttle... (Don;t have their screen names but they are AzTTORA)

So all in all, the 2nd gen 4runners fared the best in terms of carnage, or lack there of!

I guess John's truck has no throttle response now - sounds like a sticking throttle to me - and they probably won't stay the weekend.

So it sounds like ole' Ron held up better than all y'all's newer trucks!

Had a sis and niece along that couldn't stomach bumping so I managed to drag them on an easy up and over La Sal trip plus a couple of hikes- a partial slick rock and negro bill canyon.
My stocker'd have no chance to run with your group anyway, but I'd have said hi......

So......HI!

I'd have bought you a blueberry wheat brew at Eddie McStiff's.

Dang I had the chance to meet the legendary Habenero and I missed it. *boot to the head*

Next time, lady, next time you tell me when you are 500 miles within my vicinity!

Mmmmm, blueberry wheat brew.....juniper weren't bad either. They've still got a decent pizza, too. I'd also go for a #9 for breakfast over at the diner.
We might be heading out again later this summer, not sure yet. A little mountain biking, some hiking, some wheeling lite (but more than this last time). We're all over CO and UT with no set itinerary, just a basic idea and some whims.

Life is good!

Really enjoying the pics here.....maybe one day.......*wish*
Who you calling legendary anyhows? I'm just a stocker drivin' ol' lady with a tent, legs and a mtb, you're the one with the good stuff!
