60/40 bench to buckets question
I have a 1991 x-cab.I want to replace the 60/40 bench with bucket seats either out of a 4runner or truck. Will the bolt holes line up and do I have to add any holes? Also,I want to add the center console as well, can I use a 4runner or truck console?I appreciate any help.Thanks.

The front two and outside rear brackets line right up and bolt in.
For the fourth, you can either build a bracket or...
Swap the seat belt anchor with seat mount, to do this extend the seat bracket hole into a slot and get three washers per seat. Two underneath and one above and it will bolt in.
As for the center console, the 4Runner center console is mounted to the rear heater/ fan / A/C unit. I'm not sure if this will mount into the truck (i haven't tried) but the center console in the truck "should" mount right up. There are some holes under the carpet, where I "believe" the console will mount. I'm still on the lookout for a truck center console myself.

There is no body nut behind it though so you will need to either cut off a nut from another truck or use different hardware. [You cannot get the nuts from the dealer].
The bolts for the truck centre console are there covered by a rectangular sticker. You can see them from below attached to a bracket if you look above the transmission. Tap these carefully before you try to use them though as crud and corrosion will have fouled the threads by now.

I did this swap last year with 4Runner buckets.
I agree with the above driver side seat belt info but, on mine the inner front hole for the driver side was there but the body nut wasn't tack welded there.
I had to cut a hole in the carpet and hold a nut under the seat with a needle-nose vise grip while turning the bolt in the front.......not easy by yourself.
I didn't anticipate this and it really, really sucked.
Also, the 4Runner and Pickup consoles appear to mount identically as I have a few "stacker" Pickup consoles and "heater" 4Runner consoles and I see no difference in mounting them.
What color is your interior? I have one "stacker" Pickup console that I want to get rid of.

bringing this one back
i have a '92 with the 60/40 and i would like to go to buckets. two questions:
1) does the console from a similar generation 4runner bolt up (even if it has the fan for the rear heat) or is it too long for the extra cab?
2) what about third generation 4runner seats/console? anybody try that into a 89-95?

I'm holding out for a truck center console.
I've tried the earlier year's center console (pre-89) in my (post 89) truck and the holes don't line up and neither does the shifter leather boot.

the one with the heater will work but the rear end would be loose unless you made a custom bracket, and you'd have to cut out the bottom of that shallow console to make it deep enough to be useful for anything...
Previous gen 84-88 won't line up 100% but might be usable with some reworking.

rhil man do a search here for bucket seats or bench to bucket seat swap, or something like that there are all kinds of threads on the topic...
People have, for example, swapped in Celica Supra sport seats, civic si buckets, Mustang Recaro seats, APC aftermarket buckets. It all depends how much fussing you want to do.
You can also switch seats from almost any 84 to current model year truck/runner the bases are almost all the same though the current runners seem to have a slightly different base and might be more trouble.
