just finished headgasket couple questions

i just finsihed doing the headgasket on my 87 pickup 22r. i took it up the road and around the yard let it idle for a bit in the yard and the temp gauge didnt move. it worked before i did the hg. is it the green plug that plugs in by the thermostat? and theres another little plug right beside it but not sure where it goes or if it was hooked up before. if not wher is the temp gauge sensor? when i shut it off i could here it boiling in the motor dunno if thats normal or not i dont think it is lol. dont want to toast the motor by over heating it. and if it is over heating anyone know what the problem might be?

the temp sensor should be between #2 and #3 intake runners. it's a small, single wire plug.

quick question- does the heater blow hot?

is this the sensor? if not does anyone have a pic of it on a 22r? the truck works alright runs as good a it did before still needs carb adjusted up. but dont want to drive it without the gauge working and fry the motor.
