Good starting point for troubleshooting...

...the problems I'm having with my gauges. Gauge cluster currently in the the truck is the secong cluster it has seen. PO replaced original when the tach and speedo stopped working, and a few months after installing it, he found the oil pressure and engine temp gauges stopped working. After not being able to source another replacement cluster, he simply installed two after market gauges and mounted them above the dash. Well, they are sunpro brand kinda suck. The needles stick unless dash lights are on, and the oil pressure gauge no longer works at all. I'm pretty sure the tach on the cluster is now going out as the needle will randomly and wildly bounce all across the range, usually calming down when I give it throttle but returning to its' crazy dance when I let off the gas. I've never dealt with gauges before, and before I go looking for another cluster, I would like to test all the gauges/sending units to really identify where my problems are. The engine is running at temp and idle/eng. revs are acceptable, but the only gauges that currently and consistently yield accurate readings are fuel, voltage, speed, and engine temp (if dash lights are on.) I've got a multimeter, I just don't know the best way to go about starting this ugly undertaking. Thoughts or advice?

-Chris
