Torsion Bars

I've got an '88 4Runner with a 22RE.
Doing BJ spacers tonight.
My buddy (kinzer) has a '89 Ex Cab with 3VZE. He just put new torsion bars on his truggy (huge now goddammit)
He says his stock ones are bigger than mine and I can use them, is this true?
Thanks!

Its the same part number (48162) for the left hand side torsion bar of a 22RE and a 3VZE powered 1990 4Runner, so I am almost certain that they are the same on you truck.

Search here to be sure:

Also, none of the aftermarket specs different stock-replacement sizes depending on 22re or 3vze so I'd assume stock t-bars are the same regardless of the engine.
