Replacing rear door speakers.... any opinions?

So my drive side rear door speaker has been busted since i bought the 4runner. Today I decided to take the door pannel off and check it out. Much to my suprise I found Infinity 52.1i kappa series 5 1/4 speakers.

After finding these, I checked the front and also found Infinity speakers. The front was refrence series 6 1/4 componet set.

So now I am trying to decide between some diffrent options to replace the rear.
  • Infinity 52.9i kappa series
  • Alpine Type S SPS-500
  • Kicker KS5250
If anybody has any input, it would be much appreciated!

I recommend Polk DB521.

Did your rear doors already have adapters to fit 5 1/4" speakers?

Yeah it did and had adapters for the front so 6 1/4 would fit.

Wyo, thats what I was thinking also, but it will depend on the price.

Rocket, the polk speakers look great, I was considering them also, now I will have to through them back in the mix. But thanks for the info.

Just fyi...Polk hasn't changed the DB series in 5~ years because they are that awesome of a speaker, especially for the money. The only thing they've changed is the model number, making them appear as a "newer" speaker for 2009.

The DB521 speakers used to called DB525 which a few members including myself have.
You can read 11 more reviews on them here...

Well the store dident have the kappa's or the db's, and the kappa's were 99 and db's 89.

Neways I bought the kappas off of ebay.

I will take a few pic on the install seeing how the hook-ups on the 52.9's are different than the 52.1's.
