On board air Q? non york compressor w/zerk fitting

I am planning on converting my factory a/c compressor into OBA, i have been doing a lot of research on how to keep the compressor lubricated i have looked at inline oilers for intake and oil separators for the tank line. I have seen these compressors with a zerk fitting so you can just grease the compressor. My question is how is this possible i would think that it would get into the air line and cause some serious problems. Was the compressor i saw a custom unit converted to do this or can I just install a zerk without problems? Is it just best to stick with the inline oiler and separator I just want to make sure i do not burn my pump up and i would think the grease would offer the best protection. The compressor i did see was on a friend of a friend's FJ but he hadnt hooked everything up yet and couldnt offer me much info. He did tell me he bought it from somebody though.

Thanks, Ed

I do not like the grease zerk idea, yes it will get into the system. I use an oiler, then after the check valve I use a seperator. I use ATF as a lubricant for no other reason than thats readily available in my rig. My .02

I built OBA in my jeep using the stock AC compressor. At first I installed an inline air oiler from the local hardware store on the intake side, but when I got the AC discharged there was enough freon left in the system to keep the compressor oiled for a LONG time. I kept my separator on the exhaust side to catch all of the freon still coming out of the compressor so it wouldn't get in my tank.
